Orvan Richard Briffett

February 27, 1940 – June 17, 2023

It is with great sadness that the family of the late Orvan Briffett announce his passing on Saturday, June 17^th, 2023 at Western Long Term Care, Restorative Care Unit at the age of 83 years.  Leaving with precious memories are son Paul and his wife Andrea; three loving grandsons: Noah (Claire), William and Benjamin; brother Gus (Ruby); sisters: Geraldine Powell (Jack) and Maisie Arnold (Lyndon); sisters-in-law: Elvie Briffett, Helen Butt, Lorraine Butt; brothers-in-law: Ron (Janet) Butt and Jim Butt; special niece Diane Bennett and special great niece, Alicia Park; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Goldie (nee Butt); brother Winston, sister Bernice, two infant siblings; brothers-in-law: Bill, Jack, Kevin and David Butt, and sister-in-law Gerarda Butt. 

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to the staff at the Restorative Care Unit of Western Long-Term Care for their love and support, as well as to Steve Wells and Patrick Byrne for their unwavering friendship during this time and throughout the years.

Orvan loved his family deeply, and being the jokester that he was, enjoyed leaving people with a smile on their face. He loved the simple things, a row in the dory, fixing things and catching up with friends.

Granting his wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and family may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Wednesday, June 21^st at 1:00 p.m., from where the funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Ed Terry officiating. The interment will follow at Mt. Patricia cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, donations in his name may be made to the Restorative Care Unit of Western Long-Term Care.
