BERTHA ELLEN HIGGINS Corner Brook, NL It is with great sadness that the family of the late Bertha Higgins announce her passing at the Interfaith Home, St. Luke’s Unit, on Monday, February 08, 2010 at the age of 94 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her nine children: John (Dell), Bruce (Minnie), Chester (Marie), Clarence (Barbara), Derek (Gloria), Gloria Hynes, Raymond (Margaret), Sandra Banks and Joan Rueben; 21 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren; sister: Frances Peddle; sisters-in-law: Gertie McIntyre, Hamilton, ON, and Ella Harnum, Blake Town; as well as a very large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Selby, 1976, son: Joseph, 1970; son-in-law: Wayne Hynes; parents: John and Penina Harnum; brothers: Will, Nelson and Jasper; step-brother Bob; sisters: Ella and Gladys; step-sisters: Clara and Mabel. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Marks Avenue on Tuesday evening, 7-9:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 11th, at 2:00 p.m. from St. Michael and All Angels Church, Park Drive. Reverend Gordon Druggett officiating. Interment to follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation.
