Passed peacefully away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 at Corner Brook Long Term Care Home, Corner Brook, NL at the age of 92 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are her son Ralph S. (Mary Jane), daughters Beverley F. Hulan (Brian) and Ann Bell (John); grandchildren Karen, Bryan, Roger, Andrew, Julia, Fraser; great-grandchildren Kathleen, Anna, Fox and Ella; sisters-in-law Vera Earle, Hilda Read; numerous nieces and nephews and lifetime friend Jean Canning. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Naboth and Julia (Littlejohn) Arnold, husband Ralph Cyril Read (2016) and their first born son Cecil, sisters Nellie Rose, Pearl Anstey, Ann Vokey and Lydia Woodman, brother Cecil Arnold, cousin Ephram Hoyles, nieces Shirley Rose and Sylvia Brown and nephew Eddy Arnold. A special thank you to all the staff of Corner Brook Long Term Care Home on “4 South” for their great care and kindness of Shirley over the last five years. Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Saturday 2-4 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 11 at 2:00 p.m. from the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, Main Street with the Very Rev. Catherine Short officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Patricia Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Shirley’s memory.
