Bessie Delilah Wells (née Legge)

March 11, 1935 - January 9, 2022

It is with great sadness and deepest gratitude for her life that we announce the passing of a dear wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Bessie Delilah Wells at Corner Brook Long Term Care on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at the age of 86 years, surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Isabelle Legge, brothers Isaac Legge and Wesley Legge; sisters Melinda Park, Leona Brake, Cora Hunt, Hazel Brake and Allie Brinston. She leaves to mourn her devoted husband of 68 years, Roland, and children Rhonda McLean (Wayne), Billy Wells (Ruth), her precious Jacqueline Wells and Norma Park (Jamie); her grandchildren Julie MacDonald (Chuck), Robbie Grimes and Michael Park; her one sweet little great-granddaughter, Scarlett MacDonald; her sister Vera Penney; and her many, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Special thanks are extended to her home support workers Marilee, Sheena, Maureen and Candice as well as to Dr. Tim Griffin and the wonderful staff on 2 North at Corner Brook Long Term Care.  Your care and concern for her, and for our family, were beyond measure during this challenging time in healthcare.

Dedicated to her family and her home in Cox’s Cove, Bessie lived a rich life, full of hard work, music and fun.  Her lifelong dedication to our family, and especially to our sister Jacqueline was inspirational and unparalleled. Her beautiful home, her scrumptious meals, her style and her spirit are unmatched. From a tender age, she worked and toiled for all that she accomplished. Bessie was the strongest and smartest woman in our lives whose example taught us how to work, how to play, how to give back to our community and how to love.

Following Public Health Guidance, family visitation will take place at St. Nicholas Anglican Church Wednesday 7-9 p.m. and an intimate funeral service with invited family and closest friends will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Anglican Church officiated by Reverend Kay Osmond. Interment to follow at St. Nicholas Anglican Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made in Bessie’s memory to St. Nicholas Anglican Church.
