Elizabeth Bessie Green

(nee Strickland)

August 25, 1932 – October 30, 2021

Passed away peacefully at The Corner Brook Long Term Care Centre, on Saturday, October 30, 2021, Elizabeth Bessie Green at the age of 89. Born in Hant’s Harbour to Arthur and Gertrude Strickland, she was the eldest of six children. Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband Gerald in 2006 and son Boyd Green in 2015; parents Arthur and Gertrude Strickland; parents-in-law Gilbert and Winnifred Green; brothers Arthur, Clyde & John Strickland; sisters Dorothy Stirton and Linda Strickland; brother-in-law Vincent Green and sister-in-law Joan Strickland.

Leaving to mourn and remembered with love and fond memories are grandson Stephen Green (Cheron) and his mother (daughter-in-Law) Rebecca Green- Parsons (John); darling great granddaughters: Lauren & Katie Green, Corner Brook; granddaughter Sarah Green (Cameron), Yellowknife; grandson Matthew Green (Kendra), LeDuc, Alberta and their mother (daughter- in-law) Peggy Green of Wetaskiwin, Alberta; sisters-in-law: Marie Strickland, Mount Moriah, Alice Green, Hant’s Harbour; brother-in-law Barry Stirton; her special nieces & nephews: Todd, Donna, Rhonda, Rick, Steven, Wayne, Norman, Sarah Thomas, John, Joanne Dale, Toni, Donald and Beverly; and numerous great nieces, nephews & friends.

Elizabeth had strong faith and was ready to meet her loving Saviour. She was a very classy, beautiful and independent lady. Who had a smile that could light up a room. She was a hard worker and always had a plan for the day ahead. She was a wonderful homemaker, cook, knitter and an avid gardener. She also loved her card games and her friends at the Seaside Seniors club in Hant's Harbour. It is with heartfelt appreciation that we extend a sincere thank you to the Doctors, nurses and staff of 4 North at Corner Brook Long Term Care for their exemplary care and kindness that was shown to our loved one over the last 2 1/2 years. 

Visitation will be held at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue, Corner Brook on Monday, November 1 from 6-9 p.m. and will continue on Wednesday, November 3 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. from Green’s Funeral Home, Winterton. Due to Covid-19 Government regulations masks and Vaccine Passport will be required for entry. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 4 at 2:00 p.m. from Calvary Pentecostal Church in Hant’s Harbour. Interment to follow at the United Church Cemetery, Hant’s Harbour. As expressions of sympathy, flowers graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Hant’s Harbour United Church Cemetery Fund.
