It is with great sadness that the family of the late Donald Canning announce his passing on July 31st, 2009 at Happy Valley, Labrador, at the age of 84 years. He will be sadly missed by his wife Nellie; children: Lucy (Neville) Hopkins, Maxine (Lloyd) Elliott, Elenor (Jerry) Zigmund, Margaret (Alton) Russell, Iona (Neil) Elliott, Shelia (Edgar) Baggs, Paulette Mutrey (Gloria), Fronie (Ron) Mercer, Mona (Don) Sheppard; 21 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; brothers: Simon and Walter; Sisters: Dorcas, Dora, Ruby, and Cora. As well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by son Whycliff; granddaughter Debbie; great grandson Corey; his parents; and brother Arthur. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, Happy Valley Goose Bay on Saturday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 2nd at 2:30 PM from the Pentecostal Church with interment to follow at the Pentecostal Cemetery.
